ECWR offers hands-on experience in wildlife conservation, rehabilitation, and environmental education.

Applications are now open for the Spring 2026 Animal Care and Education Team internship sessions! We are currently accepting applicants for both departments. Each internship has specific requirements that must be met.

Why Intern at ECWR?

Interning at the Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge gives students real-world experience in wildlife conservation, rehabilitation, and environmental education. Our internship programs offer hands-on learning opportunities while working alongside trained staff who help prepare you for careers in wildlife biology, veterinary medicine, animal care, education, and nonprofit work. Whether in Animal Care or Education, interns build essential skills in communication, teamwork, problem-solving, time management, and public engagement while working in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. No two days are alike—interns gain exposure to a wide variety of tasks and situations that prepare them for future careers, all while receiving training and guidance from passionate staff dedicated to teaching the next generation.

Visit our Education Center:

Wednesday - Saturday: 9 am - 3 pm

Sunday: 11 am - 3 pm

Education and Medical Facility
If you arrive to drop off an animal between 8 am - 4 pm, but when our Education Center is closed, you will need to call at the gate. We will then have someone assist you.
